Editorial Standards

Sourcing

Every article links to the sources it relies on, listed in a “Sources” section at the end. We prefer primary sources: election officials, court records, congressional records and the original release of a poll or forecast. When we cite another news organization’s reporting, we credit and link to it. We use AI tools to help research and draft; every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our editor.

Accuracy in race coverage

Polls and forecasts change. Our race coverage carries an “as of” date, names the poll or forecaster behind every number, and reports margins of error. We describe forecasts as probabilities, not predictions.

Headlines

Our headlines describe what the article says. We don’t use headlines that overstate, sensationalize or promise information the article doesn’t contain.

Independence

Election Wire is not affiliated with any party, candidate, campaign or political action committee. We don’t endorse candidates or accept payment for coverage. Advertising, when present, is clearly separated from editorial content, and advertisers have no say in what we publish.

Bylines

Every article carries the name of the person responsible for it.
